Our Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF)

At Alkimos Early Learning Centre, we provide a flexible curriculum that offers a diverse, stimulating and engaging range of experiences reflective of children, family and community needs, interests and cultural backgrounds.

Our curriculum is based on the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), allowing us to develop our play-based programs. We respect and value children’s curiosity and questions of wonder and encourage learning through intentional teaching moments and natural daily opportunities. The early years of a child's life are the most important, and the best learning happens when it starts from an early age.

Within each room throughout the centre, our educators always strive to create a holistic curriculum appropriate to each child's learning abilities and interests where they will provide a range of exciting and interesting activities that make learning fun and allow children to achieve milestones at their own pace.

Bindi Bindi

The Bindi Bindi space is tailored for youngsters ages 6 weeks to 18 months. It's crafted to foster a serene and nurturing ambience, ensuring your child's holistic cognitive, physical, and socio-emotional growth. Recognising that each child has unique needs and preferences, we maintain consistent routines, offering them stability and familiarity.

Incorporating group and solo activities, we structure experiences harmoniously with the children's daily patterns, encouraging their social interactions and language acquisition. Within this room, various explorative tasks await the children, helping to hone their abilities and sensory perceptions. They can dabble in art with diverse mediums or discover textures with their hands and feet. Furthermore, we help guide them in daily tasks like hand-washing, self-feeding, and other interactive plays.

Should you consider introducing your infant to our program, it's advisable to participate in introductory sessions with your little one. This familiarises them with the environment and our dedicated team, paving the way for an effortless shift into our care.

Yongka

As children transition from the Bindi Bindi space to the Yongka room or join our centre for the first time, their exploration and growth take on new dimensions. Their growing confidence paves the way for enhanced communication and more intricate developmental abilities. Our teaching team crafts engaging and stimulating activities for our young ones that lay the foundation for skills they'll refine as they age.

Our program is crafted around the passions and curiosities of the children, identified through daily interactions and feedback from parents. This approach allows us to offer a curriculum that resonates with the children's interests, facilitating their learning through a thoughtfully designed program.

In the toddlers' space, we also immerse them in diverse experiences such as music, dance, culinary activities, and many sensory-driven tasks that feed their inquisitiveness. We ensure our surroundings are rich, inviting, and attuned to every child's evolving needs and growth.

Kwilena

The Kwilena initiative is tailored for youngsters on the verge of starting school and those already enrolled in kindergarten within educational institutions. Our in-house Early Childhood Teacher and our exceptional teaching staff craft stimulating and informative curriculums to advance their growth and prepare them for the educational journey ahead. We pride ourselves on fostering a nurturing and inviting ambience that is conducive to learning. Our diverse learning hubs are inspired by the children's passions, facilitating deliberate and spontaneous instruction through play.

Through assorted playful activities, we delve into visual arts, handcrafts, melodies, dance, the wonders of science, mathematics fundamentals, early phonics, and writing. Our objective is to pave the way for your child's upcoming academic ventures, and we collaborate with the schools they are already a part of, ensuring a harmonious learning trajectory. By actively engaging with parents, consistently monitoring, and evaluating our methods, we can offer a curriculum tailored to optimally nurture a child's evolving skills and knowledge.

Our Early Childhood Teacher collaborates with educators from our affiliated institutions to devise and bring to life activities and experiences for our curriculums. Our educational team joins forces in conceptualising these vibrant curriculums and in pioneering methods to keenly observe our students, guaranteeing the finest educational experience for your child.

Schoolies

We provide early morning and post-school care for students up to grade 6 at our facility. Our morning care service includes breakfast, diverse activities, and transport to Alkimos Beach Primary School.

Recognising that kids have spent their day at school, our post-school program is designed with fun in mind, featuring various games and arts & crafts sessions.

A delightful afternoon snack is served, and occasionally, we involve the kids in culinary activities, letting them craft their own snacks.

Our top priority is ensuring a seamless shift from our care to the school environment, and we efficiently relay any communications between parents and educators. Don't forget our vacation care programs during school breaks. Keep an eye out for our upcoming activities.

Storypark

At our service, we use an online observation program called 'Storypark', where educators can record and share children's learning and development with families. Through this system, families can view their child's (and their child only) 'profile' where educators upload observations, pictures, videos and moments whilst at our service. Families are also able to contribute to their child's 'profile' by uploading what their child gets up to out of our care. It is a wonderful way for families and educators to keep up to date and informed with children's development and learning and can be updated and viewed daily at any time.

It has been a key pillar to our success utilising our online observation program, ' Storypark', where educators can record and share children's learning and development with families.

Through this system, families can view their child's (and their child only) 'profile' where educators upload observations, pictures, videos and moments whilst at our service. Families can also contribute to their child's 'profile' by uploading what their child gets up to out of our care.

It is a wonderful way for families and educators to keep up to date and informed with children's development and learning, and can be updated and viewed daily at any time.
